More American women are choosing not to have children than three decades ago, according to a new report.Nearly 20 percent of older women do not have children, compared to 10 percent in the 1970s, the Pew Research Center said.
“In recent decades, social pressure to play traditional roles has lessened in a broad variety of ways and there is more leeway for individual choice. This could play a part in lowering pressure for people to get married and bear children,” said D’Vera Cohn, a co-author of the report. “Women have more options than in the past to build strong careers and to exercise the choice not to have children,” she added in an email. The findings in the report are based on data from the Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey.
Cohn said another reason for the increase is that children are seen by some as less important for a successful marriage. A 2007 Pew survey found that 41 percent of adults said that children are very important for a good marriage, down from 65 percent in 1990.
One in five white women ages 40-44 were childless in 2008, compared with 17 percent of black and Hispanic women and 16 percent of Asian women. Between 1994 and 2008, the childlessness rates for black and Hispanic women rose by almost a third, much higher than the 11 percent increase for white women. Education also seems to be a factor in a woman’s choice to be a mother. The more educated women are, the higher the childless rate is.
For women with a high school diploma, the rate is 17 percent, compared to 24 percent of women with a bachelor’s degree. But the childlessness rate has decreased for women with advanced degrees from 31 percent in 1994 to 24 percent in 2008.
“Economists will tell you that more educated women have more to gain economically from prioritizing their careers, compared with less educated women,” said Cohn. “The most educated women also tend to marry at older ages and to postpone childbearing until older ages more than less educated women do,” Cohn said.

Why? A popular going says that children are two of the essence of love. Without children, the family is not perfect. Children just like the link between them. They will get a lot of fun from the children. Naive, quiet state of mind, fancy-free! You will lose their world when you play with them. And when you are sad, unhappy, their smile will moved your heart deeply.
Maybe American women think that having a baby is a burden or cumbersome, even a stumbling block in her career path. If having a baby, women’s body is changing fat, their face is not beautiful any more. They must take more responsibilities from their life, their family and spend more time and spirit to take care of them. But these can be the reasons that not having a baby? They cannot sacrifice children to get more. Children are innocent, they make laugh, make you happy, make you be the most happiness mother in the world. You will proud of her or him in someday.

The quote from John A.Shedd is not so simple like it reads. It has deepful meaning for people who already have children. I believe everyone who already a raise children by their own will understand the deepness of that simple quote.
When we do not have children yet, but preparing to have one, sometime we imagine ‘how cute’ it will be if we have a child, haven’t we ? Especially, when we see our sister, brother, friends and family have a child that is so cute, adorable, beautiful and innocent, then we start dreaming to have a child by our own. Some of teenager in my country, Indonesia, they look very exciting to have their own kids at their young age. But, the truth is not so beautiful as they thought. Having children is not an utopia, is not something so cute like people thought. It needs a huge commitment and preparation.
No doubt that having children is the most beautiful blessing from God to human, I am completely agree when people said our life is not complete without having any children in our life, but this article is not just about happiness but most of it we have to remember that we have huge responsible when we decided to have a child. I am still remember how difficult to feel pregnant for 9 months, the long journey was start when I felt something growth in my body. The emotions, sad, happy, tired, stress was playing in my mind for 9 months. The best moment came when my baby was born, that time I thought this is it, this is the end of indenterminancy of my mood. But I was wrong. When the baby was born then we started the other journey which harder then before, we had to wake up everynight, then feeding them, taking care of our child moment by moment, teach them how to smile, how to move their finger, their hands, how to eat, how to walk, and we teach everything. We created a human. Then when their went to school, from kindergarten then elementary school, we had to teach them social science, religion, math, language, manner, and all the stuff to made them a good human being who can socialize in our civilization. See ? It is not that simple, our children is our masterpiece.
The hardest part is when they grow up and become a teenager. They already have their own thought and opinion, then they start to judge their parents, they start to have their own willing, their own shape. This is the most difficult time to us, we have to understand them better than before, we have to try to think the way they think. Many parents lose their confident in this fase and become stranger to their kids.
The point is not only a good effort, attention and love, we have to prepare money to raise children. Because the cost is not cheap, for school, feeding, toys, and fashion things. Can you imagine if you have a children at 16th years old, like I did ? It really a hard job to do. Fortunately, I have a great family to help me get through with it and I am thankful for that. I am just worried to see a lot of teenager in my country still thinking it is easy, so scarry. Some people force their self to have children when they are not ready. In the end we will hurt our children when we do not prepare ourself to have them.
Back to the quote above, having chilren does not make mothers but taking care of them, raise them, teaching them, educated them, that is what make us a real parents. Prepare yourself well before decided to have a child, because your child is not a toy.

After school programs are becoming more and more popular, and it’s no wonder: these programs can be a true godsend for the millions of American families without a parent or relative available to pick up a child from school in the middle of the afternoon, but are these programs good places for doing homework?
As a parent, your first concern regarding any after-school program is safety.
- Are the students safe and well-supervised?
- Are the staff members fingerprinted, their backgrounds checked and cleared before hiring?
- How do students get to the program from their classrooms?
- Is there a procedure for parents picking up their children? Do parents sign in, show ID?
- Are all of the site entrances locked and/or guarded?
- What happens if a child gets hurt or sick?
- Is an adult front and center to make certain that safety rules and procedures are followed?
Once those questions have been answered, it’s time to see how the after-school program handles homework.
Not All After School Programs Are the Same
There are different types of after-school programs, and each type will have its own homework philosophy, goals and focus. For some programs, homework will be a priority, but for others, fun and recreation or enrichment activities such as art, music or dance may take center stage.
How do you know if homework is a priority at your after school program?
- Does the program mention homework in its brochure, website and materials? Do they say it is a priority? If they don’t mention homework, it’s probably not a priority.
- Does the program have dedicated space and time to complete homework? There should be a homework area (a separate room is ideal) for students to work on their homework. This environment should be quiet and free from distractions (usually those students not doing homework!).
- Does the program have proper homework materials, supplies such as paper, pencils, and reference books?
- Does the program have an adult supervising the homework area? An adult staff member should be available to answer questions, to make certain that no copying (cheating) is taking place and to keep students focused on finishing their work.
If the program seems to do a fair job with homework, consider allowing your child to do his “easy” homework and save the important homework for home. For example, my daughter sometimes did those (silly) math and spelling worksheets at the after-school program, but saved reading and projects for home.
If the after school homework program is nt up to snuff, please don’t insist that your child participate. Wrong, rushed, sloppy, ocopied homework is really a waste of time. Let your child spend the afternoon playing, relaxing, and eating a snack. He will be in a much better mood to do his homework later.
When trying to decide if your child should do his homework at the after school program, please consider his unique personality. Some children need a break right after school, while others have no problem doing their homework immediately. Give your child my Homework Personality Quiz to determine if homework and after school programs are a good match.

Plan ahead
Students should not wait for September to start getting ready for school. Always plan ahead so that you are ready when that first day comes by preparing yourself early. The transition for students will be easy if they don’t wait till last minute.
Revision
Students can forget the last year work if they don’t review all what they learned last year. Always look over your notes, old tests and assignments and try to solve all those problems you had last year.
Study ahead
Students usually feel burdened with studies when new school year start and it happens because they have not study ahead in their holidays. They must find out what they will be reading in new school year and should read ahead. To study ahead always ask the senior grade students that what should be studied to get ahead in any subject
Get a tutor and workbooks to get ready for next grade
Parents should get a tutor for a child if they feel child is not ready for the next grade. Student can also get workbooks of all difficult subjects that cover your past grade and your new grade so that you can get ready for the coming year and can review the last year course also.
Plan schedule in advance
Students should do their scheduling in advance, so that you can plan in advance when to get up, when to leave for school and when to study. Practice to get up early a few weeks before school begins, so that you get used to the schedule change.
And you should know how to successfully study when your school will start. The thing that least matters is whether you are writing an English literature paper, reviewing algebra problems, or finishing up a chemistry lab report.
Following are a few key elements that every successful student needs to include in a study plan.
Effective time management is not about how much time a student spend in front of books , it’s about how much he learn in that specific time period. If a student is earning “C grade “after studying 40 hours, than it’s not worth it and its just wastage of time. For effective time management student should develop a proper plan.
Motivation is the key to success so if a student wills not motivation to study then he will not be able to get “A grade” or even pass the exam. Student should schedule the rite time in a day to study when he will feel motivated enough to study with full focus.
- Concentration – You need to develop the skill to concentrate as this is a very important ability. It is not necessary that you always get the amount of silence or time you require spending in a project. You should know and learn how to overcome all these distractions and CONCENTRATE on your studies only.
- When in doubt, ask – you should not be shy when you are not sure about a particular topic. Whoever is near; your instructor, family member or friend, ask for their help. The sooner you address your problem area, the lesser time you will be spending to catch up on your work.

My Momma always wanted to be a lawyer like her Daddy, my Grandpa Leader. Year after year my Daddy said, “I’m sorry we just don’t have the money for you to go to law school maybe next year.”
My Daddy was a medical doctor, a surgeon, and his patients were fishermen and farmers so they paid him in vegetables or fresh fish. We always had plenty to eat just no money for law school.
My Momma had waited over eight years to go to law school and one day she made an appointment with the Dean of the local law school. The Dean said “If you can get A’s in both of these Law classes you will be given a scholarship to attend law school.”
Momma got A’s in both classes. She was willing to study hard to reach her dream. She had gotten into Harvard Law School years before, but my parents did not have the money for both of them to go to school at the time.
Momma arranged her law classes so she would be home when my older brother and I got home from elementary school. She’d have milk and cookies on the dining room table for my brother and I and she would join us with her coffee. We would all study together every day after school. Momma had her law books to study and my brother and I had our homework from elementary school to study. If you had a question Momma would say very softly, “How about opening your book and looking for the answer?”
As a child of 8, I remember thinking that it didn’t feel quite so lonely and awful anymore to sit and do our homework because Momma was right there with us doing her home work too. We worked together for three years until Momma finished law school at the top of her class.
My Momma, Romayne Leader Frank, was one of the first women to graduate Law School at the College of William & Mary Law School. She graduated at the top of her class. She practiced Family Law & Real Estate Law for 38 years helping others.
Strong lessons learned: My Momma dreamed of being a lawyer and though she didn’t have the money for law school she found a way to have her dream. She was willing to study hard to prove she was worthy of a Law scholarship.
My Momma believed in education and because she was sitting down to do her homework we would do ours too! Just by Momma being there you were encouraged to do your best because you knew Momma was doing her best.
My Momma taught us to never give up on your dream, whether it was to become a lawyer or inspire your children to do their homework. Momma taught us to keep looking and thinking and you will find a way to solve your problems and if you want something badly enough you will be willing to study and work hard enough to get it.
Momma was our role model. She was willing to lead us by example and show is how to study, how to learn, how to think, and how to reason out our problems.

Parents or and educators who home school children have the option to buy online textbooks to facilitate your students’ learning. Online textbooks can provide an appropriate curriculum for each grade level and subject, and enable students to learn electronically.
A variety of online textbooks have been developed that are appropriate for each grade level from kindergarten to twelfth grade, with each textbook indicating the grade level it is designed for. When you use e textbooks at or above the grade level of your students, you can be confident that they are working on appropriately challenging material. This material helps home-schooled students function at levels that are competitive with their peers.
You can download online textbooks and use them to challenge your students at appropriate levels without having to come up with your own extensive curriculum. You can take advantage of the flexibility of curriculum that home-schooling offers by focusing studies on the portions of textbooks you find most useful and relevant to your students’ needs, or making use of multiple textbooks. You can also incorporate your own supplemental material into lessons as desired.
Cheap online textbooks provide a lot of value for a small initial expense. When you buy online textbooks you purchase an appropriate and effective foundation for an entire course. These e textbooks not only cover a particular subject, but provide opportunities for students to learn computer skills while they study subject matter and practice skills.
Students learning with e textbooks are guided through a digital learning experience that engages them and improves their computer literacy, as it develops their subject knowledge and provides practice for skills. Students learn to use the keyboard and mouse and strengthen typing skills as they navigate the electronic environments that e textbooks provide. Completing quizzes that test their knowledge along the way and performing electronic activities that practice their skills hold student interest while measuring their success, and further strengthening their subject knowledge and related skills.
Online textbooks are valuable tools for you to use for instruction because they can function as complete as well as flexible programs for subjects. Online textbooks provide a foundation for you to personalize a curriculum to students without having to develop a new curriculum in its entirety, and students reap additional benefits from navigating digital learning environments.

I know that each parent can determine what is right for their own child. My job is to support independent homeschooling, however. When I get questions about alternative education programs, I do not want parents to feel that I am being judgmental. On the other hand, I do try to point out alternatives that retain independence, so you can ensure the successful education of your child.
Online and alternative education classes may be appealing because they are often free. The big problem is that this kind of material is only financially free – there are other costs involved. Online classes with accredited programs often are rigid and inflexible, with strict rules requiring certain things. That can limit your ability to teach your child in the way they learn best. It is important to recognize that while classrooms progress in a plodding, standard speed, children do not learn that way. Kids learn in spurts. In classroom setting (physical or online classrooms) kids may get frustrated when the class goes to fast or bored when the class goes too slow.
If you are feeling tempted by online science materials, consider free materials that are available to independent homeschoolers. There are many colleges that offer online classes in a variety of subjects. MIT is just one example, with their free online classes called “Open CourseWare” You can also find high quality science lectures in the library. Although not a lab science, the learning is fabulous!
A simple Google search of “online virtual labs” will provide abundant material for every branch of science, with labs tied to many different books. Some online virtual labs are intended for high schools, and others are tied to particular textbooks. There is some amazing free material that anyone can enjoy!
I have recently had a few clients contacting me about alternative education and accredited programs. A few of them have had their children fail online classes due to illness, and are now facing a devastating-yet-official grade point average. One mother paid for an expensive program, and her daughter earned a 1.75 GPA for her first year of high school. Ouch! The appeal is easy to see, but the costs may be hidden until a year later. My advice is to tread carefully, and search for alternative that support your independence as a homeschooler

There’re hundreds and thousands of universities providing education worldwide, but locating the best of out of them is really a pretty tough job, especially when you’re to get quality education from some institution, such as Australian universities. Well, whatever the case is, whatever the scenarios are, the best practice is to carry out ample amount of research before you get admission into the University of your Choice.
Although, there are many of the universities whose websites you can find online, but most of them do not deliver what they actually promise for. Perhaps, that’s the possible reason, you’re occasionally asked to conduct research before getting enrolled.
There are different types of Australian universities; some of them are established for the sake of collecting money and to provide nothing in response, whereas, some others are established for the purpose of providing education – perhaps real education what actually people are required to attain. The first type of universities are intended and are always in search of such foreign student who just want to earn on the name of education. These are usually private institutions.
On the other hand, there are government universities that offer the best of education meeting all standards and procedures of quality education. According to most of the educationists, one should always go for government institutes, as they’re usually recognized by the Higher Education Commissions or University Grant Commissions depending upon the system of education into the country.
These universities offer a bulk of courses to select one from. Also, you can find a bulk of course-related information onto their websites. Previously, there was trend to go for United Kingdom in order to attain quality education, but due to the growing fees and other expenses, we’re witnessing a concrete transition, as people are now reluctant to get education at expensive institutions, perhaps because of their domestic expenses and global recession.
Today, people from around the world are more interested to study in Australia, as the Australian government offer low fee with quality education and some facilities like permanent residency to the qualified and skilled students after some specific period of time. It is therefore a good sign for the people of those countries that have low earning backgrounds and they’re capable, skilled and highly-motivated to work towards the better development of Australia and its suburbs.
According to various recent survey reports published by AC Nelson and Gallop, Australia is in its developing phase nowadays, and it requires hardworking manpower to establish itself at low costs. For this very purpose, the Australian government has offered different incentives for the people willing to relocate and study in Australia, which is a good sign for poor, developing and even established countries.
You might be astonished why the people of established countries like United Kingdom have started relocating to Australia? Well, the reason is severe economic recession and unemployment along with the lack of resources to facilitate them, as a result, they started relocating to Australia as they know that it is developing rapidly and they can have best of education in the same region.
Finally, the future of education in Australia is quite bright as the country is in a dire need of students to establish itself as a perfect country in terms of education and production of skilled and qualified manpower.
